A Valley native has been named the new executive director of the region’s paramedic service.

Robert A. Pettinella’s appointment was announced Thursday during a meeting of Valley Emergency Medical Services (VEMS).

Pettinella, who lives in Oxford, replaces Jason Perillo.

Valley medical service boosts paramedic staff PDF Print

In response to a growing demand for its services and in an effort to improve service, Valley Emergency Medical Services has boosted its staff.

The Derby nonprofit has hired 25 new paramedics, thus departing from its contract with American Medical Response.

Valley EMS hires its original paramedics to enhance its staffing

ANSONIA, CT – Although the midnight shift can be full of surprises for a paramedic, there are few emergencies that Valley Emergency Medical Service (VEMS) paramedic David Kingsbury hasn’t seen.  Kingsbury staffed the midnight shift at VEMS last night – the first shift for new staff – and his presence is very significant.

OXFORD - Valley Emergency Medical Services recently appointed an executive director.  He is Jason Perillo of Shelton, a 30-year-old certified public accountant who also serves as state representative from the 113th District.

Valley paramedics back under VEMS control PDF Print

OXFORD — After years of farming out its paramedic service, Valley Emergency Medical Services has taken direct control of providing emergency care to five Valley communities. The first VEMS-controlled paramedics reported for work at midnight Tuesday, according to VEMS Executive Director Jason Perillo. Many of those paramedics are familiar faces, he said. As word spread that VEMS would once again provide paramedic service, many who began their careers with the agency jumped at the chance to return, Perillo said.
