VEMS Unit

 
Valley Emergency Medical Service provides regional paramedic intercept service to Shelton, Derby, Ansonia, Seymour and Oxford Connecticut.  This 90 square mile area is home to over 100,000 residents. With Route 8 running through the center of this area, the VEMS system responds to over 10,300 calls per year.
 

VEMS staff are licensed paramedics in the State of Connecticut and are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), 12 Lead EKG, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Providers (PEPP). They also have training in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Hazardous Materials Awareness (HazMat).

 

Some of the VEMS paramedics are also certified Firefighters and licensed Nurses and Physician Assistants.  We have assembled some of the most talented and experienced paramedics in the state and are proud of the work they do.

Oxford man named VEMS Director

A Valley native has been named the new executive director of the region’s paramedic service.

Robert A. Pettinella’s appointment was announced Thursday during a meeting of Valley Emergency Medical Services (VEMS).

Pettinella, who lives in Oxford, replaces Jason Perillo.
